Otis Leon Rusher, 80, of Decatur passed away at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Aspen Ridge Care Centre in Decatur, IL.

Cremation rites were accorded. A private family service will be conducted at a later date. Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be sent to Bethlehem Presbyterian Church.

Otis was born December 4, 1930 in Taylorville, IL the son of Leo and Mary (Pearson) Rusher. He was a retired mechanic from ATA (Area Transportation Authority) with twenty-six years of service. He served as union president for six years. Mr. Rusher was a veteran of the Navy. Otis was a member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church. He married Patricia Quigley August 12, 1959.

Mr. Rusher is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Patricia; his stepson: James Sample and his wife Nerrisa of Decatur, sister: Norma Williams and her husband Lloyd of Belleville, IL, grandchildren: Esther Carlos, Dodie Sumner, David Sample and Danny Sample, eight great-grandchildren and nephew; Kirk Williams and his wife Diane of Chesterfield, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
